July 3rd, 2003 - Dominoes

Once the ordeal of Jaxon was finished (and I do mean "ordeal" in all senses of the word), the city fell into a fairly stable routine. The Sabbat made showings now and then, like little moles poking their heads out of holes, only to be whacked right and proper by anyone standing nearby. A scene that repeated itself for many months, until finally no sign of them existed at all. This is not to say that things went smoothly thereafter, voids are always filled and this particular one seemed to be replaced by a new anarch movement, onto the east side. This is also not to say we didn't suffer casualties of our own (sometimes the moles have teeth); among the casualties was Kay Croft, primogen of the Brujah.

As the Anarchs grew in numbers, ah the huddled masses, several Camarilla members attempted to spread their influence in that direction, no doubt with the hopes of keeping the anarchs in line, or utilizing a source of bodies that would potentially die for a cause if pointed in the right direction. Bukowski stayed over on the East Side, a place he called "his city" and was none too pleased by the Anarchs making similar claims. In my own attempt to hold some influence on those masses, I set Bukowski among them, though his volatile personality ended up being the undoing of this plan. Some death occurred, he pissed them off in one way or another and the anarchs came down in force to eliminate the enemy that is Bukowski. Of the four that attacked him, 2 were killed on the spot, and the other 2 went their own way shortly thereafter - Hankoe in a ball of self inflicted flame, Drake on his own two feet after being raised for torpid bliss.

Jaxon never quite got back into the routine, not after Casey-gate. Eventually he resigned as Keeper of Elysium and a Tremere named Doug Waters stepped up as his replacement. With the exception of minor anarch skirmashes, the city was calm, though I would't know until later that things seemed to be rotten at the core. And by the core, I mean Eva Jentre, primogen of the Toreador and then Seneschal. The extent of that corruption outlined below

  • Eva began with requesting or demanding that I no longer attend council meetings. I let her have that.
  • Dominique de Wildt, was killed by a Toreador named Cristobal. Dominique and his lover, Mel Duchesne (Toreador) had been enemies of Eva for a long time...hangers on. Dominique's death provided the impetus for Mel to leave the city before she suffered the same fate.
  • Eva claimed that Cristobal's actions were in self defense, this claim was shakey at best. More than lethal measures taken in the name of self defense, plus no real definitives for why Dominique showed up at Cristobal's in the first place.
  • Eva continues to present her case, calling in favors to collaborate the story (Tremere favors, I might add)
  • In the middle of this minor squabbling, Andrea, Childe of Reilly Ceatson decides somewhat out of the blue that she should be primogen of the Ventrue, something she'd avoiding in the past. Rumors of her "relationship" with Eva spread like wildfire.
  • After threatening a full inquest into this relationship, Andrea does finally tell all about that relationship. Eva using dominate to ensure loyalty and support. The compulsion was removed, so the Ventrue would not be suspicious, Andrea freed for the moment to outline even more of Eva's sinister plots
  • Cristobal was requested to kill Mel, though Dominique was a happy accident. She had also contracted Will, of the Gangrel to kill the Setites - namely Sayad
  • Also confessed was Eva's hold over the other council members: Nathan Atkinson, Rob Rose, and Sachiel. Pieces set in place for my removal from office.

The stage is set, my how the dominoes fall....
