Nathan Atkinson, Tremere Primogen

When I began in this city, Nathan was one of the first Kindred I encountered. I was a ghoul at the time and doing research on the resident Kindred for Ms Chase. Nathan was eager to assist me in my endeavors. He was fairly naive, however. He had assumed, since I spent so much time among the Kindred, that I was one of them. He had taken me out in his car, a place where he could give me the low-down on some of the rest, at that time, mainly Madison Kurakawa. We drove along and he answered question after question. He likes to teach and inform. That was evident even back then. After several questions, namely dealing with Kindred-related issues and abilities, he asked if he could possibly have some of my blood. I asked him why. He replied that he was just wanting to make sure that I was not a reporter. The look on his face was absolutely priceless when I pulled my press-pass from beneath my blouse.

Nathan Atkinson has come a long way since then. He served under the Tremere Primogen, Lucas, for some time before taking the role himself. He exists in the world of the Tremere, a clan of vampires that practices a discipline, strange, even by Kindred standards. Thaumaturgy is a discipline uniquely versatile among the powers of the undead. It is also jealously guarded by the Tremere clan. Along with the standard powers, there are certain spell-like abilities that Nathan terms rituals. One of these was why he had asked for my blood so long ago. There are things that certain members of the clan may divine from blood, which makes their abilities dangerous and invasive - beyond just the extremely fascinating.

Nathan Atkinson had belonged to the Tremere clan as a ghoul even before he became one of its Kindred. Prior to his even becoming a ghoul, Nathan was an instructor. He earned three degrees and maintained a deep-rooted interest in the occult. It was this interest, he says, that drew the Tremere to him. Despite being urged to the contrary by family and faculty, Nathan persisted in his endeavors. His willingness and commitment were one of the reasons they desired him. On the other hand, Nathan will state that one of his degrees was in communication. He says that he has served as an effectual go-between for the clan in the past. His openness to different views has allowed him to be something of a translator between different sides among the Tremere clan and without.

Nathan mentioned that he believes the Tremere use St Louis as some sort of training ground for their newly Embraced. He brought this up when asked about the recent Exodus of many members of his clan. The only mainstays at present are Nathan and Doug Waters, the Deputy. Given his fondness for teaching, it is fitting that he would be left in charge of a Chantry such as St Louis. There is some difference in his position as opposed to others. Nathan is not the highest-ranking Tremere in the city. He represents his clan, but the true power falls in the lap of the Regent, a figure that most of the clan fears - judging from facial expressions when the Regent is brought up.

Nathan Atkinson has made his fair share of alliances and enemies within the city.He has proven his usefulness time and again with his abilities. He has had personal relationships with several others, including myself. He also very nearly Embraced Cincade Renton, the ghoul of Arkady Filitov, but that has apparently fell through. For a time, he gave substance and spine to Matthew Kroh, former Primogen of Clan Malkavian, in a push to have Jaxon Walsh declared a diablerist. This was an interesting situation, for I was very close to Nathan during this time.

Nathan has ascribed to a code of ethics that espouses justice and fair play. He claimed to have only wanted Jaxon to be punished if he were guilty. If he had been the one to learn of possible amaranth on Jaxon's part, then he claims that he might have been the only one clamoring for justice - without one such as Kroh to add to the opposition. He feels that both Prince Chase and Jaxon have kept a wide berth of him lately, and he would rather that not be the case. He is a loyal member of the Camarilla, and he does wish it known that he does not believe it has suffered from the incident. He believes that Prince Chase is a strong Prince, and she does have his support.

In an interesting note, Nathan tends to look upon our forum with some bit of disinterest. He has made entries, but he stated that as soon as things are finished between he and Avery, he plans on making them sparsely. Avery made some comments, more aptly insults, in Nathan's direction. Strangely enough, this confrontation ensued due to Avery's feelings on Drake Volkermond and his ally Klaus, both Brujah. Nathan, a Tremere, does not believe that Avery should flatly pronounce his Brujah brethren as Anarch. Even stranger, Chris Pratt, Brujah Primogen, agrees more on this issue with Atkinson, than he does Avery.
