If one should doubt the words of the Malkavian Primogen, Mercy, she has only to show the delightful picture of herself as an adorable infant being held aloft by a strange man in hospital scrubs. She'll also tell you of a belief that if a vampire sees a pregnant woman, that the baby is destined to become a vampire.

Mercy was born to a ghouled mother and a father that was "not that important." She was ghouled at the age of 15, which explains her rather youthful appearance, and she was Embraced at the tender age of 17. She's quite fond of dressing in plaid skirts, the kind that drive dirty old men wild, because she claims that she still has plenty of them left over.

It has been said that all Malkavians are mad. The cross they bear is some form of dementia, mild in some cases, uncontrollable - which Mercy calls "the gnawed" - in others. Mercy is one that obsesses. She centers on the cause and effect relationships of almost everything - the ãButterfly Effectä she referred to it as. One thing invariably leads to another. They way she describes her ãinterestä appears akin to the adage about six degrees of separation. She likes to find the way events happen from cause to effect to cause - all of this leading back to the initial event. That makes me think of infinity and figure-8s, but that is likely the cause of her dementia. It would drive me crazy.

Another interest of Mercyâs seems the apparently time-honored hobby of Malkavians to participate in ãpranks.ä These pranks are similar to everyday practical jokes with the exception that depending on who the jokester is, there may be much more severity or elements of morbidity involved. Recently she pleased our Seneschal, Eva Jentre, with a delightful picture of the nigh-Anarch Drake Volkermond wearing a tutu.

One would definitely be remiss when talking about Mercy Diegas and not mentioning her standing as current Primogen of the Malkavian Clan. The position was held by Matthew Kroh before her. When asked about Kroh, her feelings were disposed toward the negative. I ran over him with my car once. She stated that another of her clan told her that she should have backed up. She spoke of the incident calmly, simply stating that Malkavian clan gatherings are just a little more chaotic than most.

Mercedes said that there was little doubt who would succeed Kroh as Primogen. Who else would do it? She has taken the job in stride and had little difficulty in her performance. Before her ascension, there had been much discussion of her attempting her way into the ranks of the Harpies, but that never achieved fruition, possibly due to some of the actions of former Primogen Kroh. Recently there has been some derision due to her not wishing to declare Drake and Klaus as Anarchs simply for their views as the loyal opposition. She seemed bothered that she had to apologize to Eva Jentre for her views, simply because they were different, which was how Mercy alleged to view the situation.

As far as the status quo goes, Mercy Diegas is a loyal supporter of Prince Chase. She adores the Prince, and, unlike her predecessor, is not out trying to make a name for herself. She wished to do well by her clan and the Camarilla. She spoke to me about the first time she saw me, during an impromptu gathering of Kindred at the Elysium. There was a trivia game occurring. She told me that she was jealous of me - that I was so close to the Prince, in her company, and under her protection.
