Chris Pratt

Chris Pratt, Primogen of St Louis' Brujah clan and former Sheriff of that same city is amazing. Why? He possesses the Brujah gifts of preternatural strength and greatly enhanced speed, but that's not it. His position of power makes him politically one of the most powerful Kindred in the city; that's not it, either. He counts among many of the movers and shakers, seemingly even some of the more unlikely ones such as the rebellious Ventrue, Bukowski. Again, not it.

Chris seems to be possessed of humility in spades. Everyone knows that he has great physical power, but unlike many others, notably some Kindred of the city, he feels no need to flaunt it. He doesn't strut around picking fights or bullying others. During his stints in Elysium, he refuses to walk around and intimidate or mock everyone because he's their social better or, as some choose to, because he can.

Pratt is well-liked. In my several months belonging to the night society that is the Camarilla, I have never met an individual that said an unkind word about him. He is considered to be dependable and agreeably, if not outright friendly. At times, he almost strikes me as shy. Chris Pratt servered admirably as the Sheriff. At times it may have seemed that many of his physical deeds were overshadowed by Arkady Filitov and some of his more outspoken or nigh-public deeds. It matters little. He maintained the title for many months, eventually bringing Arkady in as one of his depuities. It was only his ascendancy to Primogency that caused him to leave the position.

That begs the question, was the move made due to political pressure? Could Pratt have had dormant ambitions and simply sought the right moment to capitalize? or Would he be doing this because taking responsibility for his clan is the right thing to do? Given the nature of Kindred in general, it would likely be that the reason for his taking the position was an eclectic mixture.

The disturbing feature about Mr Pratt, able Kindred and all-around nice guy, is that he is totally in the loop but seems to receive little affect from it. He sits by and is allowed to add to his powerbase. He has no enemies, and his actions do not lend to him making any. When he is needed, he calls, but he does not come asking for a great deal. He comes across as the all-around, average, regular, and likeable guy. If he ever did choose to make a grab for power, who would expect it? Who would deny him? Who would be prepared? It's uncomfortable even to consider, but he has been on the slow and steady track forward. If one is capable, the process is slow and steady. Someone told me that. All that is needed is patience.
