4/16/02 - Thoughts on Arkady Wilhem said tonight that he wished Arkady Filitov kept a more consistent schedule. I responded by telling him he might as well ask the rain to keep a schedule. For most people, this inconvenience is nothing...means nothing, most smart kindred know better than to want an in-your-face prince. Filitov is most definitely not "in your face" and if the chance arises where he does step up, that's probably a bad thing. I have no real complaints, I'm sure things are infinitely better than they would have been with another Toreador in charge, and I don't get as much of a sense of the snakes influencing things unduly. Unless such things are more subtle now than they were in Emmanuel Rieux's short and ill-fated reign. Riz Mickanes still lurks about, but I imagine he finds Arkady Filitov about as elusive as the rest of us. It should be noted that Arkady Filitov is not a statesman, he's a fighter, and he's good at what he does. His abilities are most valued at this time, and any other faults can be overlooked as long as he remains a just and fair ruler. Though it seems that residents of the city are content to not have a heavy hand, though officially unofficially camarilla, there's a definite hint of idealism behind the masks. Contagious idealisms. I can't help but wonder, if Arkady's rule is sanctioned by those within the inner circle..he is after all, Gangrel. An ousted clan, put then on the same level as a Setite, a Giovanni, or even an Assamite. If a Gangrel could be Prince with full benefits and authority granted by the inner circle - and blessing. Could not an Assamite do the same? I know common sense says otherwise, there were Gangrel princes before they left, but I dont' know of any now. I can't help but wonder if this will become an issue at some point, and if it does, where will we go from there.
